San Gimignano

This photo is of San Gimignano, the beautiful city about an hour outside of Florence, Italy. If you were to ask what my favorite chapter of The Bunny Trail is, it would absolutely be Chapter 12. The fight, the trip, the self-discovery, meeting Louie--I loved writing every word of it.

If you have the opportunity to go to Florence and you have not yet been to San Gimignano, please do yourself the favor and go. It's only an hour outside of Firenze, but it's like a world away.

Bastian's brothers

Okay, okay, I know, I know--the photo is of the pop band Hanson.

And although I don't think that the characters of Luca, Giovanni, and Michele look like these three, I do believe their individual styles are dead-on.

Luca is the much more carefree dresser with the leather jacket (and skintight leather pants--remember, he is the best looking of the Aceti brothers). Giovanni does wear suits, but his style is very GQ and usually sans tie. And Michele is all business, always dressed in gorgeous suits and ties, even for casual family events.

So, thank you Hanson brothers for this photo! You boys look great!

I don't who this gorgeous woman is, but the instant I saw her photo, I immediately thought she looked like the older teen version of Bunny. I'd love to know if you agree! If not, how do you picture her?

Someone sent me this photo they found on a Phantom of the Opera fan site. It is supposed to be of Erik, the Phantom of the Opera, as a boy. They forwarded it to me, as they thought it looked like the image they had of Bastian early in story. I have to say that to a certain extent, I agree. It's surprisingly close. However, if any of you have read The Phantom of the Opera, you will know that the character of Erik is quite disfigured, much more so than this young man, so I actually believe this sketch might be closer to character of Bastian than to Erik.

(I don't know who drew this amazing sketch. I apologize for not giving you credit!)

Bunny as a Little Girl

Could this little girl be any cuter?

I absolutely love when dear friends forward photos to me of what they think the characters in my book look like. However, because it is forwarded,
I do not know where it's from.

My friend said that he thinks this is four-year-old Bunny. Maybe. It's close. This girl is still a bit young--maybe 2 or 3 years old?--but that expression is all Bunny.

What do you think?

Bunny and Michael...

These three books were so easy to write, as the characters of Bunny and Michael have been swimming around in my head for years. I absolutely love them both, and to me, they are almost like family, as I have devoted almost as much time to them as I have to my son over the past 24 months.

Although I have completed the final book in Bunny and Michael's story, I'm starting to believe that I am not quite done with The Bunny Trail series as a whole. I feel that some of the lesser characters could easily pick up where Bunny and Michael left off. I'm not quite sure yet. I'll keep you posted.

Introduction

Hello! I figured that before I get started, I should tell you a bit more about myself.
My name is DJ Tombe, and I have spent the better part of the last year working on three YA LGBT+ novels that I believe are different than any I have read before.

The books are a short series, with the first title as The Bunny Trail, the second as Thou Wilt Go Now, Rabbit, and the third I Go With Thee. The Bunny Trail features a young, successful, likeable, genderfluid character who becomes who they want to be in life by being able to accept themselves and by receiving the love and support of their "family." (Remember, there are many definitions of "family.")

I wrote this series for all of the teens and tweens out there who are also searching for who they are. I love these two main characters, and I hope you will, too.
